Seeing such a big city as Wenzhou completely is impossible. We concentrate on the quarter we live in and the center with the park and playground.
Houses for millions of people : there are low apartment buildings like the one D’s parents live in. But also very large and high buildings, skyscrapers. How would you feel living in such a building?

Wenzhou als geheel bekijken is onmogelijk. We concentreren ons op de wijk waarin we verblijven en op het centrum met zijn parken en speelplaatsen.
Huizen voor miljoenen mensen: er zijn lage flats zoals waar D’s ouders wonen. Maar ook heel grote en hoge gebouwen, wolkenkrabbers. Hoe zou het zijn om daarin te wonen?

Sometimes the contrast is huge. And that fascinates me.
Luckely not all the old buidlings are demolished.

Soms is het contrast enorm. En dat fascineert me.
Gelukkig zijn niet alle oude gebouwen vernietigd.

Contrasts also on the street. So many cars, buses, scooters, bicycles. And of course, sometimes there’s an accident.
The old trishaw is riding still in Wenzhou. A nice way to go to a restaurant.

Contrasten ook op straat. Zo veel auto’s, bussen, scooters en fietsen. En natuurlijk gebeurt er dan wel eens een ongeluk.
Ook de oude fietstaxi rijdt nog in Wenzhou. Een leuke manier om naar een restaurant te gaan.

In the park near our house balloons are sold. And….kites. With the mascotte of the Olympic Games which will be held in Beijing in 2008. (Our trip was in 2007)

Here our unique and unforgettable trip ends. I went back to the Netherlands, with Ran, Dongsheng and Chengji. Jan went on to Malaysia to visit his former colleagues and friend.
Hier eindigt onze unieke en onvergetelijke reis. Ik ging terug naar Nederland, samen met Ran, Dongsheng en Chengji. Jan ging verder naar Maleisië om zijn oude collega’s en vrienden te bezoeken.
